I teach group and private swim lessons for all ages. I am privately insured, which allows me to teach or train in most private or public neighborhood pools. I taught for almost 20 years at the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department on Egypt Road.

With the amount of water that is around us, pools, ponds, rivers and oceans, it is extremely important that everyone knows how to swim. Everyone learns differently, and my approach is to find what motivates and works for each individual. I am certified through the Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor and have been teaching for over 10 years. Learn more about swimming lessons.

I am a WaterART Fitness International certified Water Fitness Instructor. I teach Summer Classes at Palmetto County Park, Splash Island, Mt Pleasant Tuesday & Thursday Evenings 6:30 High Intensity Water Work out. I teach a Water Aerobics Class at Dunes West 4-5PM. If you have a group interested in having a class in your neighborhood pool, contact me and lets try and work it out. Learn more about these water aerobics classes.

I am a certified Water Fitness Personal Trainer through WaterART Fitness International, Inc. I do one-on-one training which begins with a full hour assessment in the water. We discuss your goals and I create a work-out designed to meet your needs. I recommend we do 5 sessions which include the assessment, presentation of your personal work-out and 3 additional sessions to assure you are doing the workout in a way that is maximizing your potential. This is great for people who have not done exercise for a while, are new to the water, have a specific goal in mind or for those who want to cross train. Water training can help improve your performance in many sports. Learn more about personal water training.

My Aqua Rehabilitation Specialist certification, through WaterART Fitness International, Inc. was completedin March 2011. This allows me to help people rehabilitate from injuries and disorders through aqua therapy. Learn more about water rehabilitation.

In November, 2011 I completed my fifth certification, Shape Up and Water Train. This will focus on Nutrition and ways to help people make better lifestyle choices. Some examples of medical conditions that respond to reduced body fat through exercise and lifestyle choices are: diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular, and joint issues, not to mention just feeling better about one's self.

With the completion of my 5th certification I became a Master Trainer, qualifying me to train and assess instructors.

In November, 2012 I started my 6th certification to be a Sports Conditioning Specialist. With the number of athletes in the Lowcountry I thought it would be perfect for helping runners, triathletes, golfers, cyclists and others cross train.

In 2015 I completed my 7th Certification in Mind and Body - Water exercise is an excellent modality for protecting our joints and healing our bodies. Through Mind and Body techniques we can explore ways to develop physical and mental strength, co-ordination and utilize various mind-body techniques, yoga, tai-chi, Pilates principles and relaxation training.

I am CPR certified and a Red Cross Babysitter Instructor and Safe Sitter Instructor. I teach at the Mount Pleasant Rec Department. There are several courses throughout the year, teaching tweens basic care and first aid.

My educational background is in Psychology and Sociology. I spent years working in Mental Health Facilities, Counseling, Therapeutic Foster Care and as a Documentary Producer, specializing in Award-Winning Mental Health Documentaries. My love for the water and understanding of its therapeutic value has steered me in this direction, and I use my understanding of people to teach and motivate them.

When I am not in the water I am planning group trips to the Yucatan Or publishing and writing for our travel website www.sac-be.com.
